Henrietta 03:51
"Henrietta" Henrietta come back home, don't let the sun go down I know I'm not easy, but come home anyway Don't let the sun go down. Henrietta left me alone, Henrietta come back home Henrietta hit 40 West, right around the break of day westbound highway one hundred and five Henrietta made me pay Henrietta cursed with her eyes, Henrietta said no goodbyes Henrietta you know I love you, Henrietta come back home I would run after, I'd chase my blues but Henrietta stole my shoes Henrietta thinks I'll forget, but Henrietta hasn't stopped yet

"The Day We Drove to the Rodeo" We were on our way, to the rodeo, you held my hand But I was young then, I did not understand Your love left me stupid as a stone Your love left me like a child and his ice cream cone But I was young then, now I wish I had known It was the end of days, the rain fell soft, but your words did not The scorn of a woman and the pain she locked up I loved you like a man loves his alcohol I loved you like a boxer loves to brawl But now I'm older and I'll take anything at all I sold my soul today, I gave my heart away, to another face She loves me dearly but it's just not the same Your love left me empty as a shell Your love left me shaking like a bell But now it's over and I can only wish you well I've been walking north ever since the day I heard you passed away But Cheryl told me that, you smiled every day Your love left me stupid as a stone Your love left me like a child and his ice cream cone But I was young then, now I wish I known But I was young then, now I wish I known

Marianne 03:05
"Marianne" Marianne, you're wasted, you can't remember my name Years ago we fell in love and ran away for a day Marianne, you're wasted, but I want to hold your hand Help you with the memories we could have had Oh when that wind blows, darling, I can smell your cheeks All the way in San Francisco or from the highest peak When I dream of happiness I sail into your eyes A million stars of sunshine could not replace your light Marianne you're making me, one crazy man All I really want to do is to try and understand Why so many years ago you pushed me away You said, "don't you understand boy, I do remember your name" Marianne that whiskey will clear your throat Ask me anything that you could ever wish to know I can tell you honestly no one's ever come close "Then why didn't you fight for me," you say, "why'd you have to go?" Marianne you're making me, one crazy man Years ago we fell in love now here we are again Good was never good enough, you couldn't give yourself a chance Marianne, I love you but I cannot come back again Marianne, I love you but I cannot come back again

"My Black Bess" If I mistook the way that you sometimes look at me Please don't worry and please don't run because I'll shrink away Oh I'll shrink away I played our joys on the record player waiting for the sun I thought if I could be someone that you could love me better, you could love me better So here I am on your doorstep the unsure and unwelcome guest you should say what's on your troubled mind Oh honey, for you I've got plenty of time honey, for you I've got plenty of time I rode my horse past your window tonight and I blew kisses from the back of my mind oh if love was simple as a ray of light honey, you'd be shining day or night honey, you'd be shining day or night So here I am on your doorstep the unsure and unwelcome guest you should say what's on your troubled mind Oh honey, for you I've got plenty of time honey, for you I've got plenty of time I never knew which road was truer to be the love or pursuer I'd give my all but I'm often the loser And I don't want to go No, I don't want to go So here I am on your doorstep the unsure and unwelcome guest you should say what's on your troubled mind Oh honey, for you I've got plenty of time honey, for you I've got plenty of time Oh honey, for you I've got plenty of time.

Caroline 03:28
"Caroline" To love her I had to leave her, standing there in the sand she looked back at me with a tear in her eye she said, 'when you awake you'll understand' Caroline, oh Caroline I'll be back someday I had to leave you to love you thoughts filled with pictures of you there were dues to pay now the sun doesn't shine like it did when you were mine everything else fades away, Caroline When I sleep she dances in my head but she's miles away well i made off in the night like a rolling stone down a dark highway I left her cold, left her bare, she told me to be careful there with my heart on my sleeve I told her I'd be back someday, hoping that she'll never change constant calm nights in Carolina Caroline, oh Caroline I'll be back someday I had to leave you to love you thoughts filled with pictures of you there were dues to pay now the sun doesn't shine like it did when you were mine everything else fades away, Caroline In the company of my misery, I wake up under a strange sky I peel the paint off the walls, find every little flaw in everybody but her when all the madness settles, and I'm half past dead it'll make no difference where I lay my head as long as its with Caroline, oh Caroline I'll be back someday I had to leave you to love you thoughts filled with pictures of you there were dues to pay now the sun doesn't shine like it did when you were mine everything else fades away, Caroline

"American Pipedream" Not every cowboy Dies in the saddle with dirt in his eyes and blood on his feet not every mother cries at a table with three empty chairs and no one to feed What have these heroes of yesterday turned out to be? wage weary workers and hourly prisoners who just find the end to a means Some have their lives some have their families some have it all, but none of that's free the bills just keeps coming the kids keep on running down a well beaten path toward some burnt out scene But what would they do if they knew just how hard it would be? to give up on livin' and let go of tryin' and accept the end of a dream But what's there to lose? old scars, open wounds that's all that's left of me So do it again six shots to the head the only cold round that I'll ever need Not every villain hides in the shadows and not every hero lands on his feet see they'll take your time, your mind and your money then sell you insurance that you'll never need and they'll take and they'll take and they'll take as long as you believe that you'll make that cover just like the others that told you to follow your dreams but that pipe's longer than it seems

about

The members of the Clay Pigeons are united by two forces that fuel their friendships and their music; their origin from neighboring small towns in Stanly County, North Carolina, and their mutual passion for the power of songwriting. Seamlessly blending folk, country, rock, and bluegrass music into one unique sound, the Clay Pigeons bring a foot stomping, soul shaking performance to the stage and any friendly inviting back porches. The band's members Austin Rudisill, Clay Misenheimer, David Xiong and Dillon Myrick dive wholeheartedly into their roles as musicians and artists. They believe in the integrity of the word and the music and thus draw their inspirations from the great storytellers and musicians like Bob Dylan and The Band, Neil Young, The Rolling Stones, Patti Griffin, Gram Parsons, Townes Van Zandt, John Prine, and Johnny Cash.

The group began as a singer-songwriter collective but has grown since into a multi-faceted band of multi-instrumentalists. Each song is a different perspective on music and lyricism as each member contributes their own material to the band library and takes a turn leading a song. The result is a unique convergence of genres and passions as the band pays homage to their wide spectrum of musical inspirations while seeking to discover their own identity as musicians and artists. For this reason, the band chose the late Blaze Foley's song "Clay Pigeons," a song about the journey of self-discovery, as their band name.
